A distant thought of time long gone
and time not yet to be
one final breath from life to death
no more simplicity

 For death is always waiting, one day I know he'll win
 but till that time, this life is mine
 it will not come again

A tear falls gently down my cheek and tumbles to the floor
I'd gladly trade my destiny to see you just once more

 I have a distant thought or two
 a thought of time long gone
 So violently, it came for you
 alone, I faced the dawn
 life changed from that moment on...

 The years have passed so quickly by
 but time don't ease the pain
 these distant thoughts of you and I
 are all that now remain
 
 I write this on our wedding day
 the hardest day of all
 as 20 years of yesterdays
 a distant thought recalls
