America is divided- on the same track- but going in oppose directions. Charles Dickens said, "these are the best of
times and the worse of times." As many turn to Jesus the establishment is becoming more ungodly and suppressive. Dickens
statement is a good description of modern day America. We are enjoying a robust economy. Material goods are plentiful and
most people have a higher standard of living than did their parents. In the spiritual arena, some churches are experiencing
revivals which last months, even years. Some think, America may be on the threshold of another "Great Awaking."
But as America becomes more prosperous and God conscience, the secular forces that control our government,
bureaucracies, media, culture and institutions are becoming more ungodly and totalitarian. They are gradually stripping us
of our independence and religious freedom.
This generation of Americans has witnessed the betrayal of America's Christian roots. For the last three decades
thousands of federal, state and local judges and legislators have self-consciously attacked and abandoned America's Judeo-
Christian heritage. Our Founding Fathers clearly understood and proclaimed that America was being built on the principles
of Biblical thought and law. The Declaration of Independence stated a clear belief in God the creator, God the lawgiver, God
the judge, and God the provider, and that out rights and duties came from God and His Law, not from the state or the
federal government.
George Washington warned us, "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible. Do not ever
let anyone claim to be a true American patriot if they ever attempt to separate religion from politics." Yet, tragically, that is
exactly what we have done. Today unrighteous judges and legislators who claim to be patriots have subverted and striped
religion and morality from politics and promoted evils that two generations ago were unthinkable.
The worst of these is abortion in all of its hideous forms. Nearly 40 million innocent children have been slaughtered
by abortion because the Supreme Court scoffed at the Sacred Commandment, "You shall not kill." In abortion's wake we
have seen a catastrophic breakdown in law and order, kids are killing kids, such as what happened a few days ago in
Littleton, Colorado, then earlier in Puducah Ky. Mississippi, Arkansas and other states. Guns knives, pornography, condom
distribution, and videos promoting homosexual lifestyle and widespread drug addiction run rampant in many schools. But
the "powers that be" still don't get it, when God is outlawed from the public schools, the foundation for civility is gone.
And the tragic truth is that most of the destructive forces eating away at America were unleashed on us by liberal
educators, federal and state judges; and politicians. Many who are called to lead and protect our country are destroying it by
making government our taskmaster instead of making it our servant. It is becoming an arrogant and often evil master.
And to make matters worse, we are paying for the governments’ insanity that is destroying our country through a
tax system that is immoral to the core. You and I are paying for an intellectually and morally bankrupt education system,
and for Planned Parenthood condom give-away in public schools. We are paying for the welfare mess that gives birth to
illegitimate children, many of whom become criminals. We are paying the federal bureaucrats to steal people's land. We are
paying for "corporate" welfare--big business taking jobs from America to the slave-labor camps of China. We are paying for
the transfer of military technology to China, who points their missiles and warplanes at us. We are paying our government to
support nations that outlaw and murder Christians.
We are paying for all of this foolishness with outrageously high and unfair taxes: federal income tax, land tax, state
income tax, social security tax, utility tax, excise tax, sales tax, gas tax, car registration tax, inheritance tax, and the list goes
on.
According to Americans for Tax Reform, the average homeowner pays 50% of their annual income in taxes, and at
this rate it is going to get worse. A study by the Congressional Budget Office found that our children will inherent a lifetime
tax burden of 84% to keep our failed government schemes going.
So what can we do? The first solution is to get on our knees and cry out to God for forgiveness for standing idle
while God is being shoved from our schools, government, institutions, culture, churches and homes. Then ask God to change
the hearts and minds of our leaders and the lackadaisical attitudes so many Americans have about the totalitarian moral
decline of our culture. Another solution is to send the tax and spent liberal politicians back to where they came from. Then
vote people in office who believe in the same things that our Founding Fathers believed in, which was God, country, family,
work, responsibility, discipline, and credibility.
